On Wednesday 23 November 2022, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) received the Honourable Anthony Albanese MP, Prime Minister of Australia.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, accompanied by Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Mr Gabriele Visentin as the Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union. The Ambassador was accompanied by representatives of the Embassy of the Delegation of the European Union, including Mr Fedja Zlobec, First Counsellor; Ms Anne Steppe-Moulin, Attaché; Ms Maja Morgan, Attaché.

Later, the Governor-General, accompanied by Mrs Hurley received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Mr Marko Ham as the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia. The Ambassador was accompanied by Ms Maja Kosem, spouse; and a representative of the Embassy of the Republic of Slovenia, Mr Davor Devčić, Deputy Head of Mission.

Then, the Governor-General, accompanied by Mrs Hurley received Letters of Credence accrediting Mr Garry Ramlee Ibrahim as the High Commissioner for Brunei Darussalam. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Ms Jessie Lina Halliluddin, spouse; and representatives of the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam, Ms Norliana Mosli, First Secretary; Commander Sonny Iskander Rasani, Defence Advisor; Mr Soffri Serudin, Communications Attaché.

Afterwards, the Governor-General, accompanied by Mrs Hurley received Letters of Credence accrediting Mr David Kolitagane as the High Commissioner for the Republic of Fiji. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mrs Veniana Tavo-I-Navua Tawailasa, spouse; and a representative of the High Commission of the Republic of Fiji, Ms Salote Tagivakatini, Counsellor.

Later, the Governor-General, accompanied by Mrs Hurley received Letters of Credence accrediting Mr Allama Siddiki as the High Commissioner for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mrs Rashna Farruk Siddiki, spouse; and representatives of the High Commission of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr Shahriar Firoz Dewan, Minister; Ms Tahleel Dilawar Moon, Counsellor.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a lunch for newly accredited Heads of Mission. Guests included: Ms Sarah de Zoeten, Representing the Foreign Minister; A/g Deputy Secretary, Geostrategic Group, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; His Excellency Mr Marko Ham, Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia and Ms Maja Kosem; His Excellency Mr Gary Ramlee Ibrahim, High Commissioner for Brunei Darussalam and Ms Jessie Lina Halliluddin; His Excellency Mr David Kolitagane, High Commissioner for the Republic of Fiji and Mrs Veniana Tavo-l-Navua Tawailasa; His Excellency Dr Ali Kraishan, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Mrs Lubna Kraishan; Mr Ian McConville, Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Mrs Sharon Prendergast LVO, Acting Deputy Official Secretary to the Governor-General; His Excellency Mr Allama Siddiki, High Commissioner for the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Mrs Rashna Farruk Siddiki; Mr Paul Singer MVO, Official Secretary to the Governor-General; His Excellency Mr Gabriele Visentin, Ambassador of the Delegation of the European Union.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received Mr Don Spinks AM, Repatriation Commissioner, Department of Veterans' Affairs.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received Mr Gerald Thomson, First Assistant Secretary, Polynesia Micronesia and Development Division, Office of the Pacific.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received His Excellency the Honourable Russ Kun MP, President of Nauru. The President was accompanied by the Honourable Pyon Deiye MP, Minister for Justice and Border Control, Media, Information Communication and Technology, Rehabilitation Corporation, Fibre Corporation, the Honourable Jesse Jeremiah MP, Deputy Minister for National Emergency Services and the Honourable Delvin Oneil Thoma MP and Deputy Minister for Republic of Nauru Phosphate Corporation.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received a phone call from Mr John Azarias, Chairman, Lysicrates Foundation.

In the evening, the Governor-General, as Patron, met with participants of the 2022 Australia-Indonesia Muslim Exchange Program (AIMEP) via
video conference.
