On Wednesday 25 January 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Mrs Anne Molan, attended the funeral service for the late Senator Jim Molan AO DSC.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received a phone call from Her Excellency Frances Adamson AC, Governor of South Australia.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Danielle Roche OAM, Chair, attended the national announcement of the 2023 Australians of the Year.
