On 16 March 2023, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
Then, the Governor-General, accompanied by Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Mr Chanborey Cheunboran as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia. The Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse Mrs Sopheap Kheng; and representatives of the Royal Embassy of Cambodia, including Mr Sambath Lim, Counsellor; Colonel Khanrithy Morn, Defence Attaché; and Ms Putpisey Cheam, Attaché (Commercial).
Afterwards, the Governor-General, accompanied by Mrs Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting His Excellency Mr Sultan Fahad A Bin Khuzaim as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Ambassador was accompanied by his spouse Mrs Norah Ibrahim S Aldubaikhi, and representatives of the Embassy of The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: Mr Abdullah Nasser F Al Sharif, Deputy Head of Mission; and Ms Fedah Nayil A Alanazi, Second Secretary.
Later, the Governor-General accompanied by Mrs Hurley, received Letters of Credence accrediting Her Excellency Mrs Chitranganee Wagiswara as the High Commissioner for the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. The High Commissioner was accompanied by representatives of the High Commission of Sri Lanka including: Ms Undugodege Chamari Prasangni Rodrigo, Deputy High Commissioner; Mr Udumulle Gedara Chandrasiri Abeyrathne, Minister; and Captain Sanjeewa Kathriarachchi, Defence Advisor.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a lunch for newly accredited Heads of Mission. Guests included: His Excellency Mr Chanborey Cheunboran, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia and his spouse Mrs Sopheap Kheng; His Excellency Mr Ufuk Gezer, Ambassador of the Republic of Türkiye and his spouse Mrs Sebnem Gezer; His Excellency Dr Ali Kraishan, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, Ambassador of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and his spouse Mrs Lubna Kraishan; His Excellency Sultan Fahad A Bin Khuzaim, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and his spouse Mrs Norah Ibrahim S Aldubaikhi; Ms Elly Lawson, Acting Deputy Secretary Geostrategic Group, Representing the Foreign Minister, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Mr Ian McConville, Chief of Protocol, Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade; Mr Paul Singer MVO, Official Secretary to the Governor-General; and Her Excellency Mrs Chitranganee Wagiswara, High Commissioner for Sri Lanka accompanied by Mrs Undugodege Chamari Prasangani Rodrigo, Deputy High Commissioner.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley participated in an interview with Mr Charlie McLean and Mr Simon Beardsell, Journalists, ABC Canberra.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Anita Perkins PSM, Executive Group Manager, Community Services of ACT Government, attended a Citizenship Ceremony in recognition of Harmony Week.
