On Thursday 25 May 2023, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley hosted an Australian Sports Medal presentation ceremony for the Australian Paralympic Team.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as joint Patrons and guests of Ms Camilla Rowland, Chief Executive Officer, Palliative Care Australia, attended an afternoon tea in celebration of thanks to the staff and carers of Palliative Care at Clare Holland House.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of His Excellency Mr Marthinus van Schalkwyk, High Commissioner for the Republic of South Africa and Dean of the Africa Diplomatic Corps, attended the 60^th Anniversary celebration of Africa Day.
