On Wednesday 31 May 2023, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) attended breakfast with the Honourable Anthony Albanese MP, Prime Minister of Australia.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley attended a ceremony, at which the Governor-General issued the Oath and Affirmations of Office to newly appointed Parliamentary Secretaries: the Honourable Dr Andrew Leigh MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Treasurer and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Employment and Workplace relations; Mr Patrick Gorman MP, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for the Public Service; and Senator Anthony Chisolm, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Education and Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister for Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Local Government.
Then, the Governor-General received Dr Greg French, Australian Ambassador-designate to the Netherlands.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General met with students from Yackandandah Primary School, New South Wales, as they conducted a tour of Government House.
