On Wednesday 9 August 2023, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) received Mr Brenton Garlick, High Commissioner-designate to Tuvalu, for a pre-posting call.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley received representatives of Rugy Australia, including Mr Joe Roff, President; Mr Philip Waugh, Chief Executive Officer; and Wallabies Mr Rob Valetini and Mr Nic White.

Then, Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a lunch for Heads of Mission of nations in the Five Eyes Community. Guests included Her Excellency the Honourable Dame Annette King DNZM, High Commissioner for New Zealand and Ms Georgina Elizabeth Sargison, Counsellor, New Zealand High Commission; Her Excellency Mrs Vicki Treadell CMG MVO, High Commissioner for the United Kingdom and Brigadier Nigel Best, Defence Advisor, British High Commission; His Excellency Mr Mark Glauser, High Commissioner for Canada and his spouse Mrs Diane Glauser; Her Excellency Ms Caroline Kennedy, Ambassador of the United States of America and Ms Erika Olson, Deputy Chief of Mission, Embassy of the United States of America; and representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade including Ms Kate Logan, First Assistant Secretary, Pacific Strategy Division, and Mr Peter Sawczak, First Assistant Secretary, US and Indo-Pacific Division; and Mr Paul Singer MVO, Official Secretary to the Governor-General.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received Ms Steph Wurst, Resident, Kangaroo Island.
