On Thursday 28 September 2023, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Then the Governor-General met with students from Walford Anglican School, Hyde Park, South Australia.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley hosted a breakfast and launched the start of the Family Walk Day for the Heart2Heart Charity Walk.

In the morning, the Governor-General received the Final Report of the Royal Commission into Violence, Abuse, Neglect and Exploitation of People with Disability from Chair of the Commission, The Honourable Ronald Sackville AO KC.

Later, Mrs Hurley, as Patron, and the Governor-General hosted a long table lunch for staff, supporters and friends of the Cancer Council ACT.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley recorded a video message for the Longreach Scout Group’s 110th anniversary.
