On Monday 9 October 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), and Mrs Linda Hurley hosted a morning tea for participants of the Volunteers in Policing program.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General received a phone call from Councillor Ian Bye, Mayor, Wellington Shire Council, Victoria.

Then, the Governor-General recorded video messages for Glaucoma Australia; Carers Australia; the Master Builders Association of New South Wales; and Surf Life Saving Australia.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received Mr John Geering, Ambassador-designate to Russia, and Mrs Pin Pin Geering for a pre-posting call.
