On Thursday 2 May 2024, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Mr Rob Webb, Chief Executive Officer, attended the National Memorial Service for Fire and Emergency Services Personnel. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General met with students and teachers from St Peter's Girls' School, Stoneyfell, South Australia, as they undertook a school tour of Government House. 

Then, the Governor-General, as Chancellor of the Order of Australia, and Mrs Hurley hosted an Investiture Ceremony at which the Governor-General invested Ms Harinder Sidhu AM, Australian High Commissioner to New Zealand, with the insignia of Member of the Order of Australia. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a reception for the Gallipoli Scholarship Fund. 

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a dinner for Admiral Sam Locklear III (Retd).
