On Thursday 18 July 2024, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Then, the Governor-General hosted breakfast with the Honourable Tony Burke MP, Minister for Employment and Workplace Relations, Minister for the Arts, and Leader of the House; and the Honourable Dr Anne Aly MP, Minister for Early Childhood Education and Minster for Youth. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General met with students and teachers from Sunshine Coast Grammar School, Queensland, as they undertook a school tour of Government House.

Later, the Governor-General recorded video messages for the Australian Olympic Team and DonateLife Week. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General received Ms Allison Augustine, Acting Director, Honours and Awards, Department of Defence and Ms Donna Burdette, Schedule Management Officer, Department of Defence. 

Then, the Governor-General met with students and teachers from St Stephen’s School, Perth, Western Australia, as they undertook a school tour of Government House.

In the evening, the Governor-General, as guest of Ms Louise Ingram, Executive Director, attended the opening night of Bangarra Dance Theatre’s Horizon.
