On Monday 31 March 2025, Her Excellency the Honourable Ms Sam Mostyn AC, received Mr Jeff Pope APM, Acting Electoral Commissioner, and Mr Andrew Johnston, Chief Legal Officer, from the Australian Electoral Commission.  

Then, the Governor-General presided a meeting of the Federal Executive Council to issue the writs for the 2025 Federal Election.  

After this, the Governor-General met Mr Jeff Pope, Acting Electoral Commissioner, to provide the approved writs for his signature and action. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General conducted a phone call with Mayor Sally O'Neil, Barcoo Shire Council.  

Afterwards, the Governor-General conducted a phone call with Mayor Anthony Rayner, Longreach Regional Council.
