On Tuesday 24 March 2020, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), received Mr Philip Gaetjens, Secretary, Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, and Dr Steven Kennedy PSM, Secretary, Australian Treasury for a video call.

Afterwards, the Governor-General spoke with senior representatives of his patronages regarding the impact of COVID-19.

This included telephone calls with Ms Cheryl O'Donnell, Executive Manager, Canberra PCYC; Ms Mary Reid, Interim CEO, Carers Australia; Mr Gerard Neesham OAM, CEO, Clontarf Foundation; and Ms Maree McCabe, CEO, Dementia Australia.
