On Friday 3 April 2020, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), recorded video messages for the Diplomatic Corps and Scouts Australia.

Afterwards, the Governor-General spoke with senior representatives of his patronages regarding the impact of COVID-19. This included telephone calls with Ms Lindsay Cane AM, Chief Executive Officer, Royal Far West; and Professor Michelle Haber AM, Executive Director, Children’s Cancer Institute.

Later, the Governor-General spoke with representatives of the New South Wales Rural Fire Service regarding the impact of recent bushfires. This included telephone calls with Assistant Commissioner Peter McKechnie, Director Area Operations, North and West Region; and Mr Tim Reynolds, Captain, Araluen Fire Brigade.

Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, as Patron, also spoke with her patronages regarding the impact of COVID-19, including a telephone call with Ms Sharyn Broer, President, Meals on Wheels Australia.

Earlier, Mrs Hurley, as Patron of the ACT Branch, recorded a video message for Scouts Australia.
