On Monday 03 August 2020, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Alice Springs, Northern Territory.
On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Dr Dan Tyson, Chief Executive Officer, visited the Desert Knowledge Australia Solar Centre and met with staff involved in solar technology and environmental sustainability.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Peter Renehan, Chief Executive Officer, visited the Centre for Appropriate Technology's Satellite Ground Station.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley visited the home of Mr Sydney Kinsman, World War II Veteran and Rat of Tobruk, and Ms June Kinsman, and presented Mr Kinsman with a commemorative certificate and medallion marking the 75th anniversary of the end of World War II.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley visited ANZAC Hill Lookout.
