On Tuesday 20 June 2023, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Ballina, New South Wales.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley visited and met with local families involved in the Ballina Region for Refugees (BR4R) initiative, in recognition of Refugee Day 2023.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Ballina, New South Wales, to Brisbane, Queensland.

Later, the Governor-General as guest of Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, Governor of Queensland, attended the 2023 Vice-Regal Gathering, while Mrs Hurley, as guest of Professor Graeme Nimmo RFD, attended a spouses program.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Her Excellency the Honourable Dr Jeannette Young AC PSM, attended the Vice-Regal Gathering dinner.
