On Friday 1 November 2019, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, travelled to Casino, New South Wales.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Assistant Commissioner Jason Heffernan, and Ms Jane Hollier, Coordinator Operations, NSW Rural Fire Service, visited the Northern Rivers Fire Control Centre and received a briefing on recent bushfires before attending a community morning tea.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Assistant Commissioner Heffernan and Ms Hollier, travelled to Ewingar where they met with residents and hosted a community BBQ to acknowledge the efforts of individuals and agencies involved in recent bushfires.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled to Sydney, New South Wales.
