Canberra, Australian Capital Territory; Dili, The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste

On Thursday 19 May 2022, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as Patron, hosted Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea and announced the recipients of the Cancer Council ACT Research Grants for 2022.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received His Excellency Mr Luke Daunivalu, High Commissioner of Fiji.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Dili, The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley as guests of Brigadier General Filomeno da Paixão de Jesus, Minister of Defence, attended a traditional Timorese welcome ceremony and met with members of the Timor-Leste Defence Force Guard.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of His Excellency Dr Francisco Guterres Lu-Olo, President, Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, attended an investiture ceremony and official dinner, at which the Governor-General was invested with the insignia of the Grand Collar of the Order of Timor-Leste.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended the Solemn Plenary Session of the National Parliament for the Inauguration Ceremony of His Excellency Jose Ramos-Horta, President-elect, Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste.

Following the departure of the Governor-General from Australia to The Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, the proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by Her Excellency the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria.

Afterwards, the Administrator and Mr Anthony Howard travelled from Melbourne, Victoria, to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.

In the evening, the Administrator and Mr Howard hosted a reception for delegates of the Order of Australia Association's 2022 National Conference.
