On Thursday 13 August 2020, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory to Goulburn, New South Wales.
On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Cr Bob Kirk, Mayor, Goulburn Mulwaree Council, attended a morning tea with Councillors at the Goulburn Council Chambers.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Cr Bob Kirk, and Mr Gordon Wade OAM, President, Goulburn RSL Sub-Branch, presented medallions and certificates to local WWII Veterans to mark the 75th Anniversary of the end of World War II.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Cr Bob Kirk, laid poppies at the Park Road Memorial Avenue Wall.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mrs Charmian Cribb, Principal, met with students of Goulburn East Public School and observed a performance of the Combined Schools Choir.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Cr Bob Kirk, visited the Rocky Hill War Memorial and met with volunteers and staff.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley returned to Government House, Canberra.
