On Tuesday 14 May 2024, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) met with students and teachers from Hambledon Public School, New South Wales, as they undertook a school tour of Government House. 

Then, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Jakarta, Indonesia. 

On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley were met by His Excellency Mr Andi Rachmianto, Chief State Protocol of the Republic of Indonesia.   

Then, Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Professor Dr Kyai Haji Nasaruddin Umar, Grand Imam, visited the Istiqlal Mosque. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Father Adi Prasojo, Secretary General of the Jakarta Archdiocese, visited the Jakarta Cathedral. 

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended a program briefing with Her Excellency Ms Penny Williams PSM, Australian Ambassador to Indonesia, and Ms Tiffany McDonald, Australian Ambassador to the Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN). 

Following the departure of the Governor-General from Australia to Indonesia, the proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by Her Excellency the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC.
