On Wednesday 26 October 2022, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Lismore, New South Wales
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Steve Krieg, Mayor, Lismore City Council, attended a briefing on the progress of recovery operations following major flooding in late February and early March.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Mr Brad Rickard, Owner, Bank Café and Espresso, and inspected the refurbishment of the Café.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended a community lunch to acknowledge flood response and recovery efforts, at the Hotel Metropole.
In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Michael Piccolo, Principal, met with students of Our Lady Hope of Christians school impacted by flooding in March.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Lismore, New South Wales, to Sydney, New South Wales.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Paul Signorelli OAM, attended a dinner for the Andrea Bocelli Foundation and Biaggio Signorelli Foundation.
