On Thursday 18 June 2020, Their Excellencies, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Melbourne, Victoria.
After arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Greg Male, President, visited the Monash Men’s Shed and met with members in recognition of Men’s Health Week.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Professor Margaret Gardner AC, President and Vice-Chancellor, Monash University, visited and met with staff at the University’s Biomedicine Discovery Institute.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Dr Marcus Zipper, Acting Executive Director, Future Industries, CSIRO, visited and met with staff at CSIRO’s Clayton Precinct.
Then, the Governor-General, as Senior Patron of the Royal Humane Society of Australasia, and Mrs Hurley hosted an Investiture Ceremony for Mr Andrew Black, 2019 recipient of the Clarke Silver Medal, at the Melbourne Town Hall.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley returned to Government House, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
