On Thursday 21 September 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Melbourne, Victoria.

Then, the Governor-General received a phone call from Ms Anne Hollonds, National Children’s Commissioner.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, at Government House Victoria, met with Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Governor of Victoria.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General, as Prior of the Order of St John, invested Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC as a Dame of Grace of the Most Venerable Order of the Hospital of St John of Jerusalem.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Matthew Coleman, President, attended the 2023 Melbourne Royal Show; where the Governor-General officially opened the Show.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley as guests of Mr Coleman, attended the President’s Luncheon.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Melbourne, Victoria, to Busselton, Western Australia.
