Canberra, Australian Capital Territory; Melville Island, Darwin, Northern Territory

On Thursday 14 March 2024, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council. 

 

Then, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Melville Island, Northern Territory.  

 

On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received a Welcome to Country from members of the Pirlangimpi community.  

 

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Alan James OAM, Media and Communications Officer, Tiwi Land Council, attended a meeting with representatives of the Tiwi Land Council. 

 

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr James, visited Fort Dundas to commemorate the 200th anniversary of British Settlement on the Island.  

 

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Carole Puruntatameri, Senior Artist, visited the Munupi Arts and Crafts Association. 

 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Melville Island to Darwin, Northern Territory.
