On Monday 16 November 2020, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC Retd and Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Government House, Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Mount Isa, Queensland.
On arrival, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Fr Mick Lowcock OAM, Parish Priest, Good Shepherd Parish, attended a morning tea at the Ngukuthati Family Centre.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Cr Danielle Slade, Mayor, received an update on regional issues from representatives of Mount Isa Council and attended a lunch at Council Chambers.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Sigrid Tagaloa, Centre Manager, attended a barbeque with members of headspace Mount Isa at the Splashez Aquatic Centre.
Then, the Governor-General, as Presiding Officer, and Mrs Hurley attended a Citizenship Ceremony at the Buchanan Park Entertainment Centre.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Cr Danielle Slade, Mayor, attended a Civic Reception at Outback at Isa.
