On Wednesday 10 July 2019, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd), presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley hosted a flag-raising ceremony and morning tea for Government House staff in recognition of National Aborigines and Islanders Day Observance Committee (NAIDOC) Week.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Peter Beattie AC, Chair, Australian Rugby League Commission, attended Game III of the 2019 NRL State of Origin at ANZ Stadium, Sydney.

Earlier, the Governor-General met with a group of Army Cadets as they undertook a tour of Government House as part of their visit to Canberra.
