On Friday 11 February 2022, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.
Afterwards, the Governor-General received Mr John Begley, Usher of the Black Rod, and Mr James Catchpole, Serjeant-at-Arms; for the presentation of messages to Her Majesty the Queen on the occasion of her Platinum Jubilee.
Later, the Governor-General, as Patron of the Australian Red Cross, and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley, hosted a reception to recognise the Australian recipient of the 2021 Florence Nightingale Medal.
Then, the Governor-General received a phone call from Mr Chris Hartley, Executive Director, Governor-General’s Australian Future Leaders Program.
Afterwards, the Governor-General received Mr Cameron Oxley KStJ, Chancellor and Chairman, St John Ambulance Australia, and Mr Brendan Maher, Chief Executive Officer, St John Ambulance Australia.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Sydney, New South Wales.
Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr James McAtamney, President, attended the opening night of the Noteable Theatre Company's production of Miss Saigon.
Earlier, the Governor-General was represented at the State Memorial for The Honourable Andrew Peacock AC by Colonel Mark Richards, Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
