On Thursday 19 January 2023, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) received a call from Councillor Geoff Harewa, President, Shire of Derby/West Kimberley.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Sydney, New South Wales.

In the evening, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Mrs Hurley hosted a reception for the Indigenous Australian Engineering School.
