On Monday 16 October 2023, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Sydney, New South Wales.

Later, the Governor-General, as Senior Patron of the Royal Humane Society of Australasia, and Mrs Hurley, hosted a medal presentation at which the Governor-General awarded the 2022 Clarke Gold Medal to Ms Ashlee Gunstone.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received Mr Ewen McDonald, Australian High Commissioner to Fiji.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley received The Honourable Sitiveni Rabuka CF OBE MSD, Prime Minister of the Republic of Fiji.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as Joint Patrons, hosted an afternoon tea for families and donors of the Shepherd Centre.

Later, the Governor-General received Imam Shadi Alsuleiman, President, Australian National Imams Council.
