On Friday 26 January 2024, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Aunty Caroline Hughes AM, attended a Welcome to Country with local Aboriginal Elders.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr John Foreman OAM, Chair, National Australia Day Council, attended the National Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony where the Governor-General led the affirmation.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory to Sydney, New South Wales.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, hosted an Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony where the Governor-General, as Presiding Officer, led the citizenship pledge for 51 new Australian citizens.
