On Thursday 20 June 2024, His Excellency General the Honourable David Hurley AC CVO DSC (Retd) presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.  

Then, the Governor-General attended breakfast with the Honourable Matt Thistlethwaite MP, Assistant Minister for Defence, Assistant Minister for Veterans’ Affairs and Assistant Minister for the Republic. 

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the Lived Experience Report of the Royal Commission into Defence and Veteran Suicide from Commissioner Nick Kaldas APM, Commissioner Peggy Brown AO, Commissioner James Douglas KC and Ms Tracey Bell. 

Later, the Governor-General and Her Excellency Mrs Linda Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Sydney, New South Wales. 

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Mr Jim Frecklington MVO OAM, Royal Carriage Maker.
