On Thursday 26 January 2023, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Ms Karlie Brand, Chief Executive Officer, National Australia Day Council, attended an Australia Day Personal Smoking Ceremony with local Indigenous Elders.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Danielle Roche OAM, Chair, National Australia Day Council, attended the National Flag Raising and Citizenship Ceremony, where the Governor-General led the oath of affirmation.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Canberra, Australian Capital Territory, to Windsor, New South Wales.
Then, The Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Councillor Sarah McMahon, Mayor, Hawkesbury City Council, attended an Australia Day Citizenship Ceremony where the Governor-General, as Presiding Officer, led the citizenship pledge for 32 new Australian Citizens.
Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Reverend Chris Jones, Senior Minister, visited St Matthew’s Anglican Church.
Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Elissa Blair, Curator, visited the Deerubin Centre at the Hawkesbury Regional Gallery.
In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled from Windsor, New South Wales to Canberra, Australian Capital Territory.
