Ceremonial planting of a Lone Pine at the National Arboretum; Friends and Family of the First Australian Imperial Force Fromelles Retrospective; Official Centenary Celebration of the Australian Taxation Office
On Friday 12 November 2010, at the National Arboretum, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Chief Minister of the ACT Legislative Assembly, Mr Jon Stanhope MLA, attended a ceremonial tree planting, at which the Governor-General planted a Lone Pine with members of the Returned and Services League.
In the afternoon, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, as Patron, and Mr Bryce attended a Fromelles Retrospective and lunch hosted by the Family and Friends of the First Australian Imperial Force.
Afterwards, at Ethos House, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Commissioner of Taxation, Mr Michael D’Ascenzo, attended the official centenary celebration of the Australian Taxation Office, at which the Governor-General delivered an address.
Earlier, at Brisbane International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia of the Governor-General of Tuvalu, His Excellency Iakoba Taeia Italeli, by Group Captain Guy Burton ADC, an Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
