Ceremonial Welcome and State Lunch for the President of the People’s Republic of China

On Monday 17 November 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove received the Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Ms Frances Adamson.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for the President of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Mr Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with the President of the People’s Republic of China and Madame Peng; and received the Director of Policy Planning Office, His Excellency Mr Wang Huning; Director of General Office, His Excellency Mr Li Zhanshu; State Councillor, His Excellency Mr Yang Jiechi; and Minister for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Mr Wang Yi.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a State Lunch in honour of the President of the People’s Republic of China and Madame Peng. Afterwards, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner-designate to the Republic of Fiji, Ms Margaret Twomey.
