Ceremonial Welcome and State Lunch for the President of the People’s Republic of China

On Monday 17 November 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove received the Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Ms Frances Adamson.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a Ceremonial Welcome for the President of the People’s Republic of China, His Excellency Mr Xi Jinping and Madame Peng Liyuan.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with the President of the People’s Republic of China and Madame Peng; and received the Director of Policy Planning Office, His Excellency Mr Wang Huning; Director of General Office, His Excellency Mr Li Zhanshu; State Councillor, His Excellency Mr Yang Jiechi; and Minister for Foreign Affairs, His Excellency Mr Wang Yi.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a State Lunch in honour of the President of the People’s Republic of China and Madame Peng. Guests included: Mr Wang Huning; Mr Li Zhanshu; Mr Yang Jiechi; Mr Wang Yi; Mr Zhu Zhixin; Mr Gao Huncheng; Mr Liu He; His Excellency Mr Ma Zhaoxu and Madame Yu Xiaoming; Mr Ding Xuexiang; Mr Zheng Zeguang; Mr Cao Qing; Mr Zhang Kunsheng; Mr Lu Luhua; the Honourable Tony Abbott MP and Mrs Margie Abbott; Ms Frances Adamson; the Honourable Bronwyn Bishop MP; Mr Noel Campbell; Dr Megan Clark AC; Mr Brent Finlay; Ms Katy Gallagher MLA; Professor Ross Garnaut AO; Vice Admiral Ray Griggs AO CSC RAN; the Honourable Justice Kenneth Hayne AC; Mr Steve Howard; Mr Rory Jeffes; Ms Kathe Kirby; Senator the Honourable Brett Mason; Mr Ian McCubbin and Mrs Michelle McCubbin; Dr Elisa Nesossi; Ms Lyn Ning and Mr Steven Lee; Senator Stephen Parry and Mrs Allison Parry; His Excellency Mr Molosiwa Selepeng; the Honourable Bill Shorten MP; the Honourable Warwick Smith AM; and Dr Ian Watt AO and Mrs Lorraine Watt.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received the High Commissioner-designate to the Republic of Fiji, Ms Margaret Twomey.
