On Tuesday 13 March 2018, at Chennai International Airport, New Delhi, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove were welcomed to Chennai by the Consul-General to Chennai, Ms Susan Grace.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the High Commissioner to the Republic of India, Her Excellency Ms Harinder Sidhu, attended a lunch with South Indian captains of industry.

Later, at Chennai Port, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Commandant Coast Guard Headquarters (East) Inspector General Rajan Bargotra TM, visited the Indian Coast Guard Vessel Shaurya.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Ms Grace, attended a reception with the Australian Alumni Association-India community.
