Cloncurry, Queensland; Julia Creek, Queensland

On Thursday 11 July 2019, Their Excellencies General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of Mayor Gregory Campbell, attended a briefing on regional flood damage at the Cloncurry Shire Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mayor Gregory Campbell, co-hosted a community barbecue and met with participants of the 2019 Cloncurry Stockman’s Challenge and Campdraft at the Cloncurry Racecourse.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Mr Donald Moore, Owner, visited Fishers Creek Station to discuss the damage caused by flooding in February.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with members of Cloncurry and hosted an afternoon tea at the Chinaman Creek Dam.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley travelled by rail to Julia Creek, hosting a reception on board for guests travelling to Julia Creek for the McKinlay Shire Community Dinner on Friday 12 July 2019.
