Commemorative service for HMAS AE1
At Garden Island, Sydney, NSW, the Governor-General, as Commander-in-Chief, and Lady Cosgrove attended a service to commemorate the loss of HMAS AE1, the first submarine to serve in the Royal Australian Navy, on 14 September 1914, at which the Governor-General read The Ode of Remembrance and together with Lady Cosgrove laid a wreath, before joining descendants and Navy personnel for morning tea.
