Conzano Community Welcome in recognition of the strong links to Australia

On Sunday 5 June 2011, in Conzano, Italy, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE as guests of the Mayor of Conzano, Mr Emanuele Demaria, attended a community welcome function.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, accompanied by the Mayor of Conzano, unveiled a plaque in memory of Giuseppe Cantamessa who emigrated from Conzano to Ingham in 1907 and made a significant contribution to Australian society.

Later, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Mayor of Conzano, attended a reception with representatives of the Conzano community in recognition of the community’s strong links to Australia.
