Credential Ceremonies; Afternoon tea for Australian Academy of Science Project; Reception for the Australian Women of the Year Association; State Visit to the People’s Republic of China
On Friday 18 October 2013, at Government House, Canberra, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, received from His Excellency Mr Vele Trpevski, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Majkl Sibinovski (First Secretary).
Afterwards, the Administrator received from His Excellency Dr Damir Kušen, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Dinko Čolak (First Secretary). The Administrator also received Mrs Loreta Bertoša-Kušen.
Later, the Administrator received from Her Excellency Mrs Nineta Bărbulescu, Letters of Credence accrediting her as the Ambassador of Romania. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Sever Cotu (Minister Plenipotentiary), Mrs Ligia Marin (Diplomatic Counsellor) and Mr Tudor Ioan Bărbulescu. The Administrator also received Mr Dan Bărbulescu.
Then, the Administrator received from His Excellency Dato’ Zainal Abidin Bin Ahmad, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner for Malaysia. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Eldeen Husaini Mohd Hashim (Deputy High Commissioner), Colonel Mohd Hassan Loman (Defence Advisor), and Mr Ruslin Jusoh (Minister Counsellor). The Administrator also received Mrs Shireen Sulaiman.
Afterwards, the Administrator received from His Excellency Mr Pier Francesco Zazo, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Italy. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Luca Sorgi (Counsellor), Colonel Giuseppe Messina (Defence Attaché), and Professor Oscar Moze (Scientific Attaché). The Administrator also received Mrs Svitlana Sharapa.
Later, the Administrator received from His Excellency Mr Jean-Luc Bodson, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Herman Declercq (Deputy Head of Mission), Mr David Jordens (First Secretary), and Mr Christophe De Nijs (First Secretary). The Administrator also received Mrs Stephanie Mbombo.
Then, the Administrator hosted an afternoon tea for committee members of the Australian Academy of Science project – Negotiating our future: Living scenarios for Australia to 2050.
In the evening, the Administrator hosted a reception to welcome interstate guests attending the 38th Australian Women of the Year Association Annual Lunch.
Earlier, at the Grand Hyatt Hotel, Beijing, the Governor-General the Honourable Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the CEO of the Australia-China Chamber of Commerce, Mr Ross Bundey, attended a breakfast where the Governor-General gave an address.
Afterwards, at the Great Hall of the People, Beijing, the Governor-General met with the Vice Premier of the State Council, Ms Liu Yandong.
Later, in Beijing, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Director of the Dingling Authority Office, Mr Lu Changcheng, visited the Ming Tombs.
Then, at the Australian Embassy, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Australian Ambassador to the People’s Republic of China, Her Excellency Ms Frances Adamson, met with Embassy staff.
Afterwards, at the Australian Embassy, the Governor-General opened a new children’s library and met with children of Embassy staff.
