Credentials ceremonies; Lunch for newly accredited Heads of Mission
On Wednesday 14 October 2015, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), received from His Excellency Mr Mohamed Khairat, Letters of Credence accrediting him as Ambassador of the Arab Republic of Egypt. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Sherif Hussein (First Secretary) and Mr Alhassan Soliman (First Secretary). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Mrs Omneya Negm.
Afterwards, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Ahmet Vakur Gökdenizler, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mrs Gulseren Çelik (Deputy Head of Mission) and Lieutenant Colonel Yildirim Gunes (Defence Attaché).
Later, the Governor-General received from Her Excellency Ms Helena Drnovšek Zorko, Letters of Credence accrediting her as the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mrs Jana Grilc (First Secretary).
Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a lunch in honour of newly accredited Heads of Mission. Guests included: Mr Chris Cannan; Ms Gülseren Çelik; Her Excellency Ms Helena Drnovšek Zorko; His Excellency Mr Ahmet Vakur Gökdenizler; Mrs Jana Grilc; Mr Sherif Hussein; His Excellency Mr Mohamed Khairat and Mrs Omneya Negm; His Excellency Mr Paul Maddison and Mrs Fay Maddison; Mr Charles Reeves; and Mr Ric Wells.
Later, at the National Arboretum, Lady Cosgrove as Patron and guest of the Chair, Canberra Hospital Foundation, Mrs Deborah Rolfe, attended a thank you reception for donors and supporters.
