Credentials ceremonies; Lunch for newly accredited Heads of Mission

On Wednesday 16 July 2014, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) received Superintendent Ben Cartwright, Sergeant Rod Anderson, Sergeant Ron Melis, Sergeant Mick Gordon, and Acting Sergeant Nathan Nallo from Traffic Operations, ACT Policing.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received from Her Excellency Ms Ioanna Malliotis, Letters of Commission accrediting her as the High Commissioner for the Republic of Cyprus. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Andreas Hadjithemistos (First Secretary).

Later, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Christophe LeCourtier, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the French Republic. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Cédric Prieto (Acting Head of Mission) and Captain Arnaud Bielecki (Defence Attaché).

Then, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Pär Ahlberger, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden. The Ambassador was accompanied by Mr Lennart Jansson (Chargé d’Affaires), Captain Karl Henriksson (Defence Attaché) and Ms Silvia Jurich (Second Secretary). The Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove also received Mrs Hélène Ahlberger Le Deunff.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove hosted a lunch in honour of newly accredited Heads of Mission. Guests included: His Excellency Mr Pär Ahlberger and Mrs Hélène Ahlberger Le Deunff; Mr Andreas Hadjithemistos; Captain Karl Henriksson; Ms Melissa Hitchman; His Excellency Mr Christophe LeCourtier; Her Excellency Ms Ioanna Malliotis; Mr Ewen McDonald; Mr Jeremy Newman; and Mr Cedric Prieto.

In the evening, at Sydney International Airport, the Governor-General was represented at the departure from Australia of the President of the Republic of Vanuatu, His Excellency Iolu Johnson Abbil, by Commander Paul Gall ADC RAN, Honorary Aide-de-Camp.
