Darwin, Northern Territory; Gulkula, Northern Territory

On Friday 2 August 2019, Their Excellencies, General the Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Retd) and Mrs Linda Hurley, as guests of the Honourable Keizia Purick MLA, Speaker, and Mr Michael Tatham, Clerk, visited the Legislative Assembly of the Northern Territory.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley had an introductory meeting with the Honourable Michael Gunner MLA, Chief Minister of the Northern Territory

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley met with Mr Gary Higgins MLA, Leader of the Opposition in the Northern Territory.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley traveled from Darwin to Gulkula.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Dr Galarrwuy Yunupingu AM, Chair, Yothu Yindi Foundation, attended a lunch with organisers of the Garma Festival of Traditional Cultures.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley, as guests of Ms Denise Bowden, Chief Executive Officer, Yothu Yindi Foundation, attended the Education Forum at the Garma Festival.

Later, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley attended the official opening of the Garma Festival: Pathways to our Future.

Then, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley viewed the Garma cultural performance at the Bunggul Grounds.

In the evening, the Governor-General and Mrs Hurley returned to Darwin.
