Darwin, NT

On Friday 21 September 2018, at Larrakeyah Defence Precinct, Darwin, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, received a briefing on the Regional Force Surveillance Group (RFSG) and North West Regional Force (NORFORCE), and met with Australian Defence Force personnel, as guests of Colonel John Papalitsas CSC, Commander, and Lieutenant Kate Woodall, Executive Officer, HMAS Coonawarra.

Afterwards, Their Excellencies visited the Michael Long Learning and Leadership Centre, as guests of Michael Long, Patron in Chief. During the visit, Their Excellencies received a briefing on the Northern Territory Thunder initiative, and met with staff and previous students of the education program.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove attended a Darwin Civic Reception, as guests of Lord Mayor, The Honourable Kon Vatskalis JP.

In the evening, Their Excellencies attended the Families of the Fallen Welcome Reception, as guests of The Honourable Kezia Purick MLA, Speaker of the Legislative Assembly.
