Dedication ceremony for St Leonard’s Catholic Church; 2013 Musica Viva Festival; Visit to the Canadian Ranger Base; Visit to Qikiqtani General Hospital
On Sunday 7 April 2013, at St Leonard’s Catholic Church, Naremburn, the Administrator of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia, Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO, attended a dedication ceremony for the new peal of bells.
Afterwards, at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, the Administrator attended the final performance of the 2013 Musica Viva Festival.
Earlier, at the Canadian Ranger Base, Nunavut, Canada, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE, as guests of the Liaison Officer for Joint Task Force North Headquarters, Captain Yanick Fergusson, reviewed the guard and received an operations briefing by Canadian Rangers and Junior Rangers.
Afterwards, at the Qikiqtani General Hospital, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce, as guests of the Director of Support Services and Health and Social Services, Mr Monte Kehler, received a briefing on remote healthcare and viewed the facilities.
Later, at Iqaluit Airport, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce were farewelled from Canada by the Australian High Commissioner, Her Excellency Ms Louise Hand PSM; the Canadian High Commissioner, His Excellency Mr Michael Small and the Chief of Protocol, Ms Angela Bogdan.
Then, at Westchester Airport, New York, United States of America, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce were welcomed by the Australian Consul-General, Mr Phil Scanlan AM.
