Departure for State Visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam; Original Office of the Australian Embassy plaque unveiling; Reception with Australian and Vietnamese Business Representatives and Australian Volunteers and Scholarship Recipients

On Sunday 8 May 2011, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE departed Australia on a State Visit to the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.

Earlier, in Sydney, the Proclamation assuming the Administration of the Government of the Commonwealth of Australia was signed by the Governor of New South Wales, Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir AC CVO.

In the evening, in Hanoi, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a ceremony at which the Governor-General unveiled a plaque to commemorate the original site of the Australian Embassy.

Afterwards, at the Sofitel Legend Metropole, Hanoi, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a reception with Australian and Vietnamese business representatives and Australian volunteers and scholarship recipients.
