On Tuesday 3 October 2017, at Al Jalila Children’s Speciality Hospital, Dubai, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Princess of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Spouse of the Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al-Hussein, viewed the facilities and met with staff and patients.

Afterwards, at the International Humanitarian City (IHC), Al Ain, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al-Hussein.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Her Royal Highness Princess Haya Bint Al-Hussein, received a briefing on the IHC and met with operational staff of Non-Government Organisations represented at the IHC.

In the afternoon, at the Palace of Sheikh Tahnoun, Al Ain, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, met with the Ruler’s Representative in Al Ain, His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al-Nahyan.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of His Highness Sheikh Tahnoun bin Mohammed Al-Nahyan, attended a lunch.

Later, at Qasr Al Muwaiji Fort, Al Ain, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Manager, Mr Nasser Helal Ahmed Al Kayoumi, viewed the historic buildings and gardens and met with staff.

Then, at Strata Manufacturing, Al Ain, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the CEO, Mr Ismail Abdulla, viewed the facility and met with staff.

Afterwards, at the site for the new Australian International School (AIS), Dubai, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the UAE Minister for Health, His Excellency Abdulrahman bin Mohammed Al Owais, attended a ceremony where the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove broke the ground for construction of the AIS Dubai campus.

In the evening, the Governor-General as guest of the Commander of Combined Joint Task Force 633, Major General John Frewen AM, received a briefing on Australian Defence Force operations in the Middle East region.
