Dublin, Ireland; Brussels, Belgium

On Sunday 24 September 2017, at Grangegorman Military Cemetery, Dublin, the Governor-General, His Excellency General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Park Superintendent, Mr Paul McDonnell, conducted a tour of the cemetery and the graves of Australian and New Zealand Service Personnel, during which the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove laid a wreath beneath the memorial stone.

Afterwards, at Trinity College, Dublin, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Dean of the Trinity Business School, Professor Andrew Bourke, attended a ceremony where the Governor-General delivered an address and witnessed the signing of the agreement for the Ireland Funds Australia Trinity Master of Business Administration Scholarships.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Head of Preservation and Conservation for the Trinity College Library, Ms Susie Bioletti, conducted a tour of the Book of Kells and the Old Library.

In the afternoon, at Farmleigh House, Dublin, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, met with Board Member of the Iveagh Trust, Mr Rory Guiness.

Afterwards, at Croke Park, Dublin, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chief Executive Officer of the Ladies Gaelic Football Association, Ms Helen O’Rourke, conducted a tour of the Croke Park GAA Museum.

Later, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove met with the Taoiseach of the Republic of Ireland, Mr Leo Varadkar TD.

Then, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Chief Executive Officer, Ladies Gaelic Football Association, Ms Helen O’Rourke, attended the GAA Senior Ladies All Ireland Final game.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove were farewelled from the Republic of Ireland by the President of Ireland, His Excellency Michael Higgins and Mrs Sabina Higgins; and the Taoiseach of the Republic of Ireland, Mr Leo Varadkar TD.

In the evening, at Brussels National Airport, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove were welcomed to the Kingdom of Belgium by the Ambassador to the Kingdom of Belgium, His Excellency Dr Mark Higgie.
