Echuca, VIC
On Friday 8 April 2016, at Riverboat Dock, Echuca, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd) and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Moama RSL Club, Mr Peter Gough, officially launched the newly refurbished M.V. Mary Ann on the Murray River.
Afterwards, at the Port of Echuca, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the CEO, Echuca Moama District Tourism, Mr Tom Smith, visited the Discovery Centre and the historic Echuca Wharf precinct.
Later, at Community Living and Respite Services’ ‘Number 4’ community engagement centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the President, Mr Brendan Hogan, viewed the facility and met with clients, staff and volunteers.
Then, at the Berrimbah Childcare Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Chairman, Njernda Aboriginal Corporation, Mr Kevin Williams, received a welcome to country from elder Uncle Rick Ronnan, observed traditional dances and shared afternoon tea with children and elders of the Yorta Yorta Nation.
Afterwards, at the Echuca Civic Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Mayor, Shire of Campaspe, Councillor Leigh Wilson, attended a Civic Reception with representatives of community organisations, emergency services and local businesses.
