Exmouth, WA
On Tuesday 16 May 2017, at the Harold E Holt Naval Communication Station, Exmouth, the Governor-General, General the Honourable Sir Peter Cosgrove AK MC (Retd), and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Base Manager, Mr Russel Leiven, viewed the facilities and received a briefing on operations.
Afterwards, at Vlamingh Head Lighthouse, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the District Manager of the Department of Parks and Wildlife Exmouth, Mr Arvid Hogstrom, viewed the facilities and received a brief on the local environment.
Later, at the Exmouth District High School, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Principal, Mr Raymond Denholm, met with students and staff for a morning tea with the Exmouth District Youth Group.
Then, at Mrs Mac’s Shed, Exmouth, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of the Manager, Ms Leonie McLeod, viewed the facilities and met with volunteers and staff.
In the afternoon, at the Marine Rescue Centre, the Governor-General and Lady Cosgrove, as guests of Commander of the Exmouth Volunteer Marine Rescue Service, Mr Michael Ellis, met with volunteers of the Exmouth District Emergency Services.
