Federal Executive Council; Credential Ceremonies

On Thursday 28 July 2011, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General Ms Quentin Bryce AC presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Earlier, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Dr Milan Balazic, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of Slovenia. The Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE also received Mrs Nina Krajnik.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Abdul Malik Abdullah, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner for the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Tasawar Khan (Deputy High Commissioner) and Brigadier Zahoor Ahmed (Defence Advisor).

Later, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Admiral Thisara Sugeeshwara Samarasinghe, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner for the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Ratnapala Aparekka Liyanagamage (Deputy High Commissioner) and Ms Sashikala Premawardhane (Minster). The Governor-General and Mr Bryce also received Mrs Malathie Samarasinghe and Ms Nadeesha Samarasinghe.

Then, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Ayoola Lawrence Olukanni, Letters of Commission accrediting him as the High Commissioner for the Federal Republic of Nigeria. The High Commissioner was accompanied by Mr Idowu Onisemo (Minister), Mr Shakiru Bada (Minister) and Mrs Florence Akinyemi (First Secretary). The Governor-General and Mr Bryce also received Mrs Helen Olukanni.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received from His Excellency Mr Hector Roberto Gonzalez Urrutia, Letters of Credence accrediting him as the Ambassador of the Republic of El Salvador.

In the afternoon, the Governor-General received from PricewaterhouseCoopers, Government Leader, Mr Chris Bennett; and Director, Mr Michael White.

Afterwards, the Governor-General received a farewell call from the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, His Excellency Dr Michael Witter and Mrs Johanna Witter.

Later, the Governor-General received from the Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet, Deputy Secretary of Governance, Mrs Renee Leon.
