On Thursday 16 August 2012, at Government House, Canberra, the Governor-General, Ms Quentin Bryce AC CVO presided at a meeting of the Federal Executive Council.

Afterwards, the Governor-General and Mr Michael Bryce AM AE hosted a lunch in honour of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Mahidol of the Kingdom of Thailand. Later, the Governor-General received the Ambassador-designate to the Holy See, Mr John McCarthy QC.

Then, at the Drill Hall Gallery, Canberra, the Governor-General and Mr Bryce attended a reception at which Mr Bryce officially opened the art exhibition of Mr Michael Nelson Tjakamarra AM and Mr Imants Tillers, ‘the Loaded Ground’.
